Rival Nations: The Fall of Gods
The War of Names
The six year war that began with the opinion of changing the nation’s name from Vifvaenn, meaning Beautiful Lady as named by the First Jarls, to Faroe Norden, meaning Northern Sheep as a symbol of the strength that can be achieved by any creature regardless of their weakness.
Though the main cause of the war, publicly, is the changing of the names. The underlying cause of the war were political maneuvers by certain Jarls to claw their way into the rank of Faroe Jarl.
Faroe Jarl Adek Olfridhel is the main defender of the Vifvaenn name, but ultimately lost due to his side-war against his own Thane leading to The Thane Betrayal. Many believe the war would have lasted a hundred more years had he not declared war on the most powerful Gracyela Hvenythyr since the First Jarl Gracyela Hvenythyr.
Both Vifvaenn and Faroe Norden are still used to this day, Faroe Norden is slightly more used as it is the side that won the war.
